Northeast North & South Region Meeting

I have always been interested in the field of health and wellness, and enjoy teaching people about the importance of self care to help prevent illness and improve quality of life. I strive to utilize my background and knowledge as a nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner in a setting where I can make a difference and provide safe, evidence based care for my patients. My primary focus is on the chronic disease of obesity, which is often not represented in this way by health care practitioners and the media. Obesity is often portrayed as a self inflicted disease with bias towards the individual as well as the expectation that willpower to eat less and exercise more is all it takes to take control of this disease. Unfortunately, that is not the true picture of this disease and my goal is to educate, advocate and provide evidence based treatment to individuals, families and even organizations that are impacted by this disease. I whole heartedly believe that with the right information and access to care and treatment for those impacted by this disease we can stop the progression and take hold of the next pandemic in healthcare.
