Susan Y. Swart is an accomplished nurse leader with over 16 years of nursing and nursing regulation experience. She is the CEO of SYS Consulting Solutions, Inc. and has served as the Executive Director for ANA-Illinois, and the Illinois Nurses Foundation since 2008 and for the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Registered Nursing since 2013. Dr. Swart routinely presents and consults on scope of practice issues, ethics, nursing regulation, and public policy development. She is known for her coalition-building skills, innovative leadership approaches, and building partnerships to advance the nursing profession. Dr. Swart believes that as a licensed registered nurse, she has a professional responsibility to actively participate in her professional association to shape the profession and improve healthcare for all people. It is her life’s mission to foster nurse empowerment and help ensure that nurses are at the table whenever health policy discussions are occurring .
