ISAPN has a rich history behind its founding in 2001. Ten Advance Practice nurses came together to form an organization dedicated to fighting for nurses through legislation. This week's member highlight honors the first ISAPN Secretary Officer, Peter Kale.

Retired, Adult NP, MSN
What is your area of practice/specialty?
Hospitalist NP with general and peripheral vascular surgeons 1980-1991, then adult primary care 1991-2016
If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go and why?
In the past year I went to Egypt, Iceland, Copenhagen, Italy, Yellowstone in January, South Korea and Japan....and this week down to New Orleans! Why?...So someone else can mow my lawn!
How many years have you worked in healthcare?
Started in 1978 as an aide while at U of IL College of Nursing.
What inspired you to become a member of ISAPN?
Founding board member as we evolved from the INA NP Council.
What is your favorite book?
Too many to choose from: The Bible, works by Joseph Conrad.
If you couldn't be an APRN, what other job would you try?
Retirement!
How has being a member of ISAPN benefited you?
So many dear friends. Knowing we formed an organization that brought legal recognition to APNs in Illinois and huge career opportunities.
If you could go back in time and give yourself advice as a student. What would it be?
