Learn about our six volunteer opportunities for APRNs in ISAPN:

1. Bylaws Committee

The Bylaws Committee is responsible for the annual review of the ISAPN bylaws and recommending changes to the Board and membership.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting an annual review of the bylaws and ISAPN Board Policies
  • Recommending necessary changes

Commitment:

  • Meets via Zoom 3-4 times yearly
  • Each session lasts 1-2 hours

Joining the Bylaws Committee is ideal for those who have a keen eye for detail and an interest in organizational governance.

2. Finance Committee

The Finance Committee prepares and reviews the annual budget, recommending revisions as needed to ensure the financial health of ISAPN.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing the annual budget
  • Conducting quarterly budget reviews

Commitment:

  • Meets via Zoom 3-4 times yearly
  • Each session lasts approximately 1 hour

3. Government Relations/Political Action Committee

This committee keeps members informed about current legislation, drafts position papers, and assists in fundraising for the Political Action Committee (PAC).

Responsibilities:

  • Informing about current legislation
  • Reviewing proposed legislation
  • Drafting position papers
  • Advising ISAPN lobbyists
  • Fundraising for PAC

Commitment:

  • Meets via Zoom monthly during the legislative session and as necessary when ISAPN is proposing legislation

Ideal for APRNs passionate about healthcare policy and advocacy, this committee plays a crucial role in shaping the legislative landscape for nursing.

4. Membership Committee

The Membership Committee focuses on developing strategies for membership retention and growth, as well as monitoring health-related media.

Responsibilities:

  • Retaining and increasing membership
  • Informing members about upcoming programs
  • Monitoring health issues in the media

Commitment:

  • Meets via Zoom at least bimonthly
  • Frequent email communication

This committee is suited for those who excel in communication and have a passion for community building within the nursing profession.

5. Program Committee

The Program Committee is tasked with planning the annual conference and organizing other educational programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning the annual conference
  • Organizing educational programs

Commitment:

  • Meets via conference call monthly for 1 hour each session

6. Awards Committee

The Awards Committee solicits and selects nominees for the ISAPN annual awards, recognizing outstanding contributions in the field.

Responsibilities:

  • Scoring and selecting winners

Commitment:

  • Work begins in May and ends in August
  • All meetings conducted via Zoom
