What inspired you to become a member of ISAPN?
As a nurse practitioner student I was involved early on with the INA Council of nurse practitioners. I began my IsAPN journey and was so very interested in advancing the profession so I ended up serving on the ISAPN board and worked to recruit members, worked the legislators and did whatever was needed with my former colleagues to advance the profession and gain prescriptive authority.
If you couldn't be an APRN, what other job would you try?
I would have probably been some type of engineer. I am always interested in how things work and how to improve the foundations and operations.
How has being a member of ISAPN benefited you?
I have had the pleasure of meeting and networking with so many nurse practitioners who have been the NP leaders in Illinois and worked to allow myself and other nurse practitioners to obtain full practice authority. Without the past work ISAPN none of this would be possible. I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience the practice that my colleagues and I so hard and long to see it’s impact on practice. It has been a beautiful journey not only meeting so many nurse practitioners but so many legislators as well.
