What are your credentials?
Adult health CNS-BC now retired exam
How long have you been a member of ISAPN?
12+ years
What is your area of practice/specialty?
Palliative care with recent retirement. I do plan to do something in nursing in retirement yet not sure what
If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go and why?
I love the beach. Any white sand beaches I find so relaxing. I’d like to see Ireland someday with my husband and celebrate my Irish heritage
How many years have you worked in healthcare?
36 years all at OSF Healthcare St. Francis medical center Peoria IL. So blessed by joining into the sisters mission
What inspired you to become a member of ISAPN?
I feel every APN in the state of IL should belong to ISAPN. Every masters student should join. And it’s cheaper lol. It’s our duty! We will always need a voice at the table.
What is your favorite book?
I'm generally not a reader. I am currently reading “The Women” in retirement
If you couldn't be an APRN, what other job would you try?
I’ve had every nursing position I’ve ever wanted in my career. From postpartum/newborn, surgery to end of life.
How has being a member of ISAPN benefited you?
I really appreciate all of the education with dinners, conferences, interacting with local chapter members, webinars
If you could go back in time and give yourself advice as a student. What would it be?
Take one day at a time and enjoy every privilege, sacred moment that comes your way! You are a part of people’s lives that most never get to experience. Always remember the why of when you want into nursing, your calling
