What are your credentials?
MSN, APRN-FNP, FNP-BC
How long have you been a member of ISAPN?
About 3 years
What is your area of practice/specialty?
Retail Health, Family Practice
If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go and why?
The Maldives - I would LOVE to stay in an over-the-water bungalow. Also, the marine life and underwater reefs are some of the most beautiful in the world. I would love to be able to dive and experience it.
How many years have you worked in healthcare?
About 20 years
What inspired you to become a member of ISAPN?
I originally became a member of ISAPN for the networking and regional meetings. I stay active in ISAPN to both network and be a part of an organization that advocates for the role of the APN in Illinois.
What is your favorite book?
My all time favorite is The Little Big Book for Moms - it is a collection of everything moms need - nursery rhymes, crafts, projects, songs, recipes, etc. It holds so many memories of things I did with my mom and I did with my daughters. I also LOVE giving it to new moms to share all the experiences with them.
If you couldn't be an APRN, what other job would you try?
Airline Pilot - it just seems amazing and I love to travel!
How has being a member of ISAPN benefited you?
I have met amazing APNs and grown my professional network, been given learning opportunities in both regional meetings and the ISAPN conference, and had the benefit of ISAPN advocating on my behalf personally to get my FPA application processed by the state.
If you could go back in time and give yourself advice as a student. What would it be?
Start getting involved as a student - join professional organizations (both state and national), attend conferences, and start to build a professional network. Not only will you have support while in school and as a new professional, but you never know what opportunities you will be introduced to!
