Mission Statement
The Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing is dedicated to promoting and supporting advanced practice registered nurses through advocacy, policy, education, and professional development.
Vision Statement
Harnessing professional unity, driving policy, and transforming healthcare to ensure equitable access and exceptional health outcomes for all.
Working together to advance practice and equity
This board will lead with one goal. Remove barriers that limit APRN practice, so patients receive timely, high-quality care in every community. Unity across all APRN roles will guide the work. Collaboration with CRNAs, CNMs, CNSs, and CNPs strengthens advocacy, aligns messages, and improves results in Springfield and across the state.
Why unity across APRNs matters
A single, shared agenda improves legislative outcomes. Patients benefit when APRNs speak with one voice on access, safety, and quality. Unified advocacy shortens the time from proposal to law. Shared education raises standards across roles. Joint data efforts reveal disparities sooner and guide precise solutions.
Impact on health equity
These steps will close access gaps in rural counties, urban neighborhoods, and maternity care deserts. Payment parity supports services in Medicaid-dominant areas. Streamlined practice removes delays that worsen chronic disease outcomes. Expanded behavioral health services address urgent needs statewide. More clinical sites in underserved communities build a workforce that reflects the patients served.
Measuring success
Reduce new patient wait times in primary care and behavioral health. Increase the number of APRN-led access points in rural and high-need ZIP codes. Grow the share of Medicaid patients served by APRNs. Shorten credentialing and onboarding timelines. Increase APRN preceptor availability and the number of filled rotations. Track maternal health access and outcomes in targeted regions.
The new board invites every APRN in Illinois to engage. Join committees. Share data. Mentor colleagues. Speak to policymakers. Your participation strengthens the profession and improves patient care across Illinois.
